Snow Days

We've been getting a ton of snow here lately!  I let the kids out to play before it accumulated too much--we have several inches now and we're supposed to get several more over the next few days.  The kids love it, but I'm a little cold.  Here are some pictures to enjoy!  I like the one where Harris looks like Ralphie from The Christmas Story!

Family

This was my favorite picture from Christmas this year.  It was such a gift to be able to spend time with each of my siblings.  I was struck this year especially with how much I enjoy being with my family on the rare occasions that we can all be together.  We are spread out all over the place now: Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi and Peru.  Every time we are able to get together, I appreciate it so much more.  The gift of family is truly one of God's greatest blessings.

My favorite memory from Christmas this year was this:  My dad went around the table and told each of his children (and sons-in-laws) what he values most about them and what each of us has brought to our family.  It was such a sweet time to appreciate each other.  I know this is what it is like to be a part of God's family as well.  We each bring something special and unique to His table.  We are not perfect--sometimes our imperfections irritate one another--but we are family and the table is not complete without every member present.  Each of us is valuable and brings our Father's heart great joy.  I am thankful for both of my earthly families, the Huttos and the Rosses.  I am especially thankful for God's ever growing family, and my place at His table.

Hannah's class Christmas party

Here are a few picture's from Hannah's school party.  They had a great time--even Santa showed up!  Parents and siblings were allowed for the last 15 mins., so Harry had a great time visiting Hannah's room too.  The best part of the party was when the kids presented their parents with the "secret project" they had been working on since Thanksgiving.  They each made a glass ornament with "snow" inside and 5 little snowmen painted on the outside(made from their handprint).  It was precious--an ornament I will cherish forever.  Why do children have to grow up so fast?!

Christmas Cookies

I only got a few pictures of our Christmas vacation at my parent's house.  Here are some from making cookies with Nana.  Everyone joined in--Hannah, Mattie Jane, and Harry.  Their cookies were hilarious looking, complete with finger indentions and teeth marks (Harris was slightly impatient).  Notice the chocolate ring around my kids' mouths.  This was a permanent look for them while at Nana's house, since she was constantly slipping them Hershey's kisses when I wasn't looking.  At least I'll have someone else to blame when they have rotten teeth before making it to kindergarten.  Memories, memories!

The girl's got style...

I asked Hannah to go and get dressed the other day and this is what she came down in.  I love her wacky sense of style!  Harris wanted to get in on the "posing" action too.  I love the first picture--she looks like she is too cool to be bothered with me.  Hmm...I hope this is no indication of what the future holds for us!
